Information about DEFRA – the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs.

Here at Archive, we believe thoroughly in exploring all aspects of life in Britain and lending a helping hand where we can.

After our chat with Kerry Lambie about her decision to embrace the country lifestyle, we thought that we’d help any budding smallholders out there by getting to grips with DEFRA.

DEFRA – is the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs which covers the whole of England. They make policy and legislation, and work with others to deliver policies in areas such as:

  • the natural environment, biodiversity, plants and animals
  • sustainable development and the green economy
  • food, farming and fisheries
  • animal health and welfare
  • environmental protection and pollution control
  • rural communities and issues.
